A favorite destination for divers due to the quality of the dive sites, Rangiroa, or Ra’iroa (the big sky) is in one of the biggest lagoons in the world. The vast turquoise and blue lagoon has a multitude of small motu, including one with pink sand and another with its own natural bathing pool.

Rangiroa is also home to a flourishing pearl industry. Visitors are welcome to the pearl farms where they can learn some of the secrets of the beautiful tahitian pearl.

In Avatoru you can hire a taxi, or rent a car, motor scooter or bike.
